To Get a Prepaid Legal Plan (or Not)?
Do you know the mistake almost every person makes in their life?

Failing to plan for the future.

One of the things we fail to plan for is unexpected situations.

We end up in situations where using an attorney would make the situation better.

Or situations where simply having an attorney might make the situation better.

But paying an attorney isn't something we want to do, (and sometimes we don't do it) because it costs too much.

With attorneys being so expensive, and with not a lot of information about legal planning available, how will you know which legal services company to choose?

After all, there are currently (at least) 6 companies offering some sort of legal plans.

  • Hyatt Legal Plans
  • ARAG
(German company offering Legal Plans in the US)
  • Prepaid Legal Services, Inc.
  • the Legal Services Plan
    (through LegalHelpNow)
  • Wright and Co.
    for Federal Employees)
  • Signature Legal Care Plan
    (through GE Consumer Finance)
  • and others.

Which one is right for you?

And, do you sign up for additional services like:

  • legal help for your business
  • help for your CDL (if you have one)
  • and Identity Theft protection?

Or is it better to just take the basic plan and upgrade later?

These are questions we answer for you here at LegalPlanReview.com.

A prepaid legal attorney talks about the benefits of legal plans

| | Comments (0)

In this video, a rather mellow but informed prepaid legal attorney from Ohio (Patrick Maguire of Ohio's Maguire and Schneider LLP) discusses the value of having a prepaid legal plan, and mentions that one of the benefits is that it covers you nationwide.

He suggests that people review the written materials that come in the membership packet.

He also recommends that people call in advance with legal issues

He also recommends getting your wills done quickly, as that is one of the best ways to see the value from your legal plan.

This article, called Prepaid Legal
was originally posted at ChatCheaters.com sometime in 2005.

It discusses the ways that Americans are using legal service plans to really get the most out of what they're already doing in their lives.

It goes on to talk about the costs of legal services and how affordable legal plans really can be for people.

TheStreet.com mentions Prepaid Legal Services in an article

| | Comments (0)

TheStreet.com is notorious for not having positive things to say about Pre-Paid Legal Services, Inc.  However, in an article called How Dating Rules Can Help You Find an Attorney (link), from September 5, 2007, TheStreet says one of the most positive things it has said about the prepaid legal in a long time.

As with dating, many business owners are afraid to dump their lawyers or even to communicate when they have a concern, says Charne. When small-business owners use a middleman such as a referral service, though, they call the service first if an issue arises, eliminating the need for direct confrontation.

In addition, referral services lessen the chance of a problem in the first place. The average time in practice of the NYC Bar's referral service's ABA-approved lawyers is 18 years, and its attorneys are checked for complaints filed against them.

Thanks to the resources out there, you don't have to be a naif to the attorney scene. If only the search for my next date could be as comprehensive...

Your business may also benefit from services such as Pre-Paid Legal Services, which provides legal expense plans, similar to medical reimbursement plans, for businesses that pay a membership fee of around $26 per month. Siegel says he has seen some clients benefit from similar plans through unions.

We found that interesting, and wanted to share it with you.
